Groundhog Day. The Day the Music Died. And the Pagan holiday, Imbolc. Imbolc is a holiday of children, creativity, fire. Represented by the Celtic goddess Brigid, whom my daughter is named for, this is one holiday that I should revel in, and until this year, I haven't. This year Imbolc and its indications mean something to me. Today I take my hybrid Tarot deck, the one I created through divine inspiration and motivation, to the printer. Today I will take my precious Bridgette Clover to school. Today I will light candles and not fear the flames. I will remember the snowflake, a symbol of Imbolc, and find commonality with it. I, too, am unique in not just this world, but in this infinite universe. I am special, and I am loved. I am confident that while I am an individual, I am also part of a universal consciousness that includes other snowflakes; together we can blanket the winter with beauty and melt away to transform into our spring.
